Campus administrators continue to monitor forecasts for Hurricane Idalia.

While the storm is expected to produce heavier rain and wind for counties closer to the coast, all forecasts continue to predict 2-4 inches of rain and 20-30 mph winds for Pitt County, beginning Wednesday night. These conditions will be similar to a strong thunderstorm.

At this time, classes and operations are expected to remain on regular schedule. Forecasts can change rapidly and significantly so continue to monitor ECU emergency communications.

Anyone traveling should pay close attention to the weather. All employees and students should use their own judgment based of their specific situation. Be careful of hydroplaning while traveling on wet roads. Do not drive through moving or standing water or around barriers.

Stay tuned to local weather stations or the National Weather Service for the latest updates on Hurricane Idalia. Any updates to campus operations will be announced through ECU Alert.
